Cat Nap

a poem by Leslie

Climb the stair,

Step through the square.

Take a cat nap,

Way up there.

The Cats in the Studio
PROBLEM:

Annie & GG love to keep me company while I'm working in the studio. The prize space is on top of the nice warm lightbox. They also love it under the nice warm lamp.

This was a big problem for me because I needed to use the lightbox. Sometimes they took up so much space on the drawing board that I had very little space to work. I love my kitties, but I needed to get my work done.

SO...

I asked myself, what do I know about cats that might help me with a SOLUTION.

Well, I know that cats like to climb, cats like to be up high,
cats like warm places and cats like to be where they can see everything that's going on.

SOLUTION:

I designed two corner cat houses in my studio, way up high, with their very own stairway and connecting walkway. I decided to use the basic shapes; square, triangle, circle and rectangle as windows. I also designed a lightbox into the bottom of the Basic Shapes House so they would have their very own warm lightbox along with some cuddly soft pillows and a blanket.

The other house looks like a piece of swiss cheese, lots and lots of circle holes for the cats to peek out of.

Annie's spot for watching Leslie and the studio.

Now we're ALL happy!

Annie loves to nap in the Basic Shapes House and GG visits the Swiss Cheese house, not to nap but to search for treats. Sometimes I leave a treat for them to discover.
